Catering Assistant & Kitchenhand – Casual (Day Shifts)

About the role

We are looking for reliable Catering Assistants and Kitchenhands to join our casual team in Christchurch. The role offers flexible daytime shifts across a variety of venues such as schools, hospitals, aged‑care facilities and event locations. You will gain experience working with different kitchen teams while earning competitive hourly rates.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and basic kitchen tasks.
• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen area clean and organised.
• Support chefs and catering staff during service periods.
• Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
• Perform general kitchen and catering support duties as required.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices; Food Safety Unit Standards 167 & 168 are a plus.
