About the role

Join Braemar Hospital’s Special Care Unit (SCU) as a Casual Registered Nurse, providing high‑quality post‑surgical care for a wide range of procedures, from minor interventions to complex cardiothoracic and colorectal cases.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient‑centred nursing care in the SCU, reporting to the Charge Nurse.
• Manage post‑operative recovery for diverse surgical specialties, including cardiology, urology, plastics, and HIPEC.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient flow and optimal outcomes.
• Adapt to rostered and rotating shifts and support other hospital areas as workload demands.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of ICU/HDU nursing experience.
• Current New Zealand Nursing Registration (APC).
• Excellent communication, calm under pressure, and strong time‑management skills.
• Team‑oriented mindset with a patient‑centred approach.
• Willingness to work flexible, rostered shifts across the hospital.
