Caregiver – Casual Aged Care Support

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Caregiver to join our team at Somerfield Lifecare on a casual basis. You will work in a 39‑bed care home in Christchurch, providing high‑quality support to residents, many of whom have dementia.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personal care and assistance to residents in accordance with care plans.
• Promote a warm, respectful, and safe environment for all residents.
• Assist with daily activities, including meals, mobility, and social engagement.
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ health or behaviour.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high‑standard care.

Required profile

• Proven experience caring for others, preferably in an aged‑care setting.
• Minimum NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent qualification.
• Specific experience and qualification in dementia care.
• At least six months of experience as a Caregiver or in a similar role.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Genuine passion for helping people and a commitment to health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required skills

• Dementia care qualification.
• NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent).
