Cafeteria Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Cafeteria Assistant to join our team at Hellers Ltd’s Kaiapoi site. In this hands‑on position you will support the Cafeteria Manager by keeping the kitchen and café area clean, preparing fresh meals and providing friendly service to our factory staff during their scheduled breaks.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and snack items in line with staff meal schedules.
• Make fresh sandwiches each morning and replenish food stations throughout the day.
• Maintain high food hygiene standards and ensure all items are correctly labelled, dated and stored.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen worktops, coffee machines, staff fridges and dining areas.
• Monitor stock levels of coffee, condiments and other supplies and reorder as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience preparing and cooking food in a café or similar hospitality environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team‑oriented, proactive attitude with a genuine enthusiasm for food service.
