Business Director

About the role

MBM, one of New Zealand’s leading media agencies, is seeking a Business Director to lead a newly‑won client portfolio. This senior leadership position will shape strategy, drive commercial outcomes and build high‑performing teams that deliver measurable business impact.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the strategic direction for a portfolio of key clients.
• Transform new client wins into long‑term, high‑value partnerships.
• Identify and unlock revenue growth opportunities across the portfolio.
• Manage commercial performance, intervene when results lag and optimise profitability.
• Collaborate with specialists across paid, owned, data and creative to deliver integrated solutions.
• Present and sell MBM’s thinking confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of experience in media, preferably agency‑side.
• Proven senior‑level leadership of client relationships and teams.
• Commercial mindset with a focus on revenue growth.
• Ability to lead full‑ecosystem planning across paid, owned, data and creative.
• Strong trust‑building skills with senior clients and the confidence to challenge them.
• Experience developing talent and raising performance standards.
