Business Development Specialist

About the role

The Business Development Specialist will drive growth for Freight Direct NZ Limited by acquiring new clients and generating revenue in the international freight forwarding market, focusing on air and ocean services. You will work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored logistics solutions and build lasting relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Research and identify potential clients, understand their logistics needs, and propose appropriate freight solutions.
• Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders to secure and retain business.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets and expand market share.
• Negotiate terms, present proposals, and close contracts with customers.
• Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to uncover new opportunities.
• Collaborate with operations, customer service and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in international freight and logistics sales.
• Strong analytical ability to assess market data and client needs.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Highly organized with effective time‑management capabilities.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
