Business Development Specialist – EdTech (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Specialist to drive growth for Mindflight7 NZ’s immersive VR learning experiences. This contract role focuses on building relationships with schools and corporate training teams across Auckland and throughout New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and manage a pipeline of school leads through cold outreach (email, phone, LinkedIn) and in‑person networking.
• Develop relationships with school leaders (principals, deputy principals, lead teachers) and corporate HR/L&D managers to secure VR bookings and contracts.
• Represent Mindflight7 NZ at school visits, education events, and community functions.
• Nurture leads through a 2–4 week sales cycle from first contact to confirmed booking.
• Collaborate with the delivery team and occasionally facilitate VR sessions in schools.
• Contribute to a team‑first growth culture.

Required profile

• Proven ability to generate leads and close deals, preferably in education, SaaS or B2B services.
• Confidence in cold‑calling and cold‑emailing school leaders.
• Strong relationship‑building and self‑motivation; able to manage own pipeline without micromanagement.
• Excellent written communication with clear, persuasive emails.
• Genuine interest in education and making a difference for young learners.
• Valid NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel across Auckland and New Zealand.
