Business Development Specialist – Construction

About the role

HD Contractor Ltd is looking for a motivated Business Development Specialist to join its Additions & Alterations (A&A) team. You will convert warm leads into projects, build lasting client relationships and support business growth across Auckland and surrounding regions, including Hamilton.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up on warm leads, conduct site visits and consultations, and prepare quotations, cost estimates and scope breakdowns.
• Negotiate and close sales while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Perform quantity take‑offs, calculate material and labour costs, and ensure pricing meets margin targets.
• Generate new business through networking, referrals and identifying renovation opportunities.
• Act as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, coordinating with purchasing and site supervisors throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in construction sales, renovation coordination or a related role.
• Ability to interpret basic construction drawings and prepare cost estimates.
• Basic knowledge of material and labour costing.
• Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
• Commercially minded, self‑motivated and detail‑oriented.
• NZ full driver licence.
• Tertiary qualification in construction, business or a related field preferred but not essential.
