Business Development Manager – Strategic Accounts

About the role
As a Business Development Manager – Strategic Accounts, you will expand AIA’s market presence by building trusted partnerships with financial advisers, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering strategic sales initiatives. Working within the Distribution team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance adviser experiences and drive profitable business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic business plans, campaigns and adviser engagement activities to grow profitable sales.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with financial advisers, providing support to help them achieve their business objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, expand adviser networks and increase adoption of AIA products and solutions.
- Represent AIA in the market, share insights and raise the organisation’s reputation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues, improve service delivery and create positive adviser experiences.
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records, monitor performance and apply market insights to drive commercial outcomes.
Required profile
- Proven success in sales, relationship management or business development, preferably within insurance or financial services.
- Ability to build trusted partnerships, influence stakeholders and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Strong commercial awareness with data‑driven decision‑making.
- Excellent communication skills and adaptability to diverse adviser audiences.
- Resilience, accountability and a results‑focused mindset with a commitment to compliance.
- Relevant industry qualifications such as life insurance knowledge or NZ Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (preferred).
