Business Development Manager

About the role
We are looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to expand our presence in the nutritional ingredients market. Based in Auckland, you will identify new opportunities, nurture customer relationships, and drive revenue across food, beverage, sports nutrition, and dietary supplement categories.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within functional foods, supplements, sports nutrition, dairy, bakery, and beverage sectors.
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to meet sales and margin targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and industry stakeholders across New Zealand and Australia.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging ingredient technologies.
- Collaborate with suppliers, principals, technical, regulatory, and supply‑chain teams to bring new ingredient solutions to market.
- Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and negotiate pricing.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate leads.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to shape product and supplier strategy.
Required profile
- 5+ years of business development, sales, or account management experience in ingredients, food/beverage manufacturing, nutraceuticals or a related B2B field.
- Strong understanding of the nutritional ingredients landscape (vitamins, minerals, proteins, botanicals, functional additives).
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and growing a customer portfolio.
- Excellent relationship‑building, negotiation and communication abilities.
- Self‑motivated, results‑driven and comfortable working autonomously.
- Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Nutrition, Business or a related discipline preferred.
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to travel domestically (occasional international travel may be required).
