Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager will own the New Zealand market for Barentz, a global specialty ingredients distributor. Reporting to the ANZ Sales Director, you will manage existing accounts and drive new business across food, dairy, pharma and nutraceutical sectors. The role offers autonomy and the chance to shape market growth.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities in targeted sectors.
• Manage and expand a portfolio of accounts across dairy, pharma, nutraceuticals and food.
• Own account planning, pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
• Develop and convert opportunities to broaden product usage in existing and new accounts.
• Build strong relationships with key customer contacts and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with technical support to deliver tailored solutions.
• Represent Barentz at industry events and customer meetings throughout New Zealand.
• Provide regular reporting on account performance, sales activity and market intelligence.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years in a customer‑facing sales role; 10 + years preferred.
• Background in ingredients, distribution or related technical sales.
• Well‑networked within pharma, nutraceuticals or food manufacturing in New Zealand.
• Self‑motivated, tenacious and able to work autonomously.
• Strong relationship‑building ability and commercial acumen.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel domestically and occasionally to Australia.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM system).
