BI Developer – Power BI & Data Modeling

About the role

Deloitte’s Information Technology Services team in Auckland is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to design, build, and maintain high‑impact reporting solutions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into insightful Power BI dashboards and data models.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualisations.
• Gather requirements from business stakeholders and convert them into reporting specifications.
• Build and optimise data models using DAX and SSAS Tabular for dynamic, time‑intelligent reporting.
• Collect, transform, and integrate data from multiple sources, supporting ETL/ELT processes.
• Maintain and improve an existing portfolio of reports, ensuring performance and security.
• Write and optimise SQL queries, scripts, and stored procedures to support reporting solutions.
• Assist with report deployment, release activities, and after‑hours support when required.
• Provide guidance and training to internal teams on reporting tools and outputs.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a full‑time business intelligence, reporting, or data analytics role.
• Proficiency in Power BI development, administration, and optimisation.
• Strong experience with DAX, SSAS Tabular or semantic models, and dimensional data modelling.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries and procedures.
• Familiarity with data‑warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and Azure data services.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices or CI/CD automation for reporting pipelines.
