BAS Manager

About the role

BDO is seeking a BAS Manager to lead client engagements, provide expert tax and accounting advice, and drive sustainable business growth. You will work in the Auckland CBD office, collaborating with a supportive team and internal stakeholders to deliver high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Identify client business issues, develop strategic plans and implement solutions for growth.
• Draft accurate advice on accounting standards, tax compliance and business management.
• Analyse financial reports and management accounts to deliver actionable insights.
• Advise on tax‑effective strategies including trust income distribution, group structures, FBT, GST, PAYE and other indirect taxes.
• Supervise medium to large engagements through review stages and conduct final reviews for smaller projects.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly in both verbal and written formats.
• Mentor and develop team members to foster a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years of business advisory experience in a CA environment.
• Accounting background and/or working towards CA qualification.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical mindset.
• Excellent communication skills.
