Azure Cloud Architect – Remote/Hybrid (NZ)

About the role

Cloud Decisions is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to lead complex cloud and infrastructure projects for SME and mid‑market customers across New Zealand and internationally. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, designing, modernising and optimising Azure environments while collaborating closely with customers throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Azure‑based solutions across infrastructure, platform and hybrid cloud environments.
• Lead customer workshops, technical discovery sessions and architecture reviews.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex cloud, infrastructure and identity challenges.
• Drive Azure migration, modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Provide architecture guidance on networking, security, governance and operational best practices.
• Support pre‑sales activities, solution design and technical proposals.
• Work with technical leadership to influence cloud strategy and service development.
• Establish and maintain architecture standards across customer environments.

Required profile

• Strong Azure architecture experience with end‑to‑end cloud solution design.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune.
• Experience implementing Conditional Access, identity governance and device security.
• Solid background in Windows Server and hybrid infrastructure.
• Good understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, VPNs, routing, hybrid connectivity and private networking.
• Experience with storage, backup and database platforms.
• Security‑first mindset and familiarity with modern cloud security principles.
• PowerShell scripting and automation expertise.
• Excellent stakeholder management and customer‑facing communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously across multiple customer environments and projects.
