Avionics Technician – Evening Shift

About the role

Rocket Lab is seeking an Avionics Technician to join the Electron launch‑vehicle production team on an evening shift. You will work hands‑on with tools and equipment to build, assemble, and test electronic components that power our rockets.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble high‑voltage battery packs, wire harnesses, and precision‑soldered PCBs.
• Perform electrical, mechanical and automated test procedures on avionics assemblies.
• Follow strict ESD controls and manufacturing drawings to ensure high workmanship standards.
• Inspect completed assemblies for visual and functional quality.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve build issues.

Required profile

• Trade‑qualified in a relevant industry or at least 2 years of comparable hands‑on experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to work long hours when required and take initiative.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Precision electrical assembly.

• Operation of electrical, mechanical and automated test equipment.
• Understanding of standard industry ESD policies.
• Soldering of PCBs and avionics components.
• Wire‑harness construction.
• Computer literacy (smartphone and basic software use).
