Automotive Mechanical Engineer - Expert

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanical Engineer to create a realistic digital workspace for AI research labs. This remote contract position involves designing multi‑step engineering tasks that mirror real‑world automotive workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Build a digital environment that includes design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA documents, PPAP packages, tolerance analyses, benchmarking decks, test reports, and related email threads.
• Design multi‑step tasks that require navigation across multiple applications, files, and stakeholders to challenge frontier AI agents.
• Collaborate with other automotive engineering experts to define task scope, ensure realism, and review scenarios for rigor.
• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for automotive engineering benchmarks.
• Contribute to AI research by providing high‑quality task data that informs training and evaluation of next‑generation AI systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of full‑time experience at a Fortune 500 automotive OEM or Tier‑1 supplier.
• Hands‑on experience in vehicle or subsystem design, CAE/CAD/simulation, manufacturing/process, or quality engineering.
• Daily use of ANSYS Fluent, STAR‑CCM+, Siemens Opcenter, or SAP S/4HANA.
• Strong analytical thinking and written communication skills.
