Audit Associate – Auckland

About the role

PwC New Zealand is looking for an Associate to join its Audit team in Auckland. You will work on high‑quality financial statement audits for clients across banking, insurance, real estate, funds and trusts, helping to build trust in financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare audit workpapers and deliverables in line with PwC methodologies and quality standards.
• Perform audit procedures across key financial statement areas and take ownership of allocated work.
• Analyse financial information, internal controls and business processes to identify risks, issues and opportunities.
• Communicate clearly with clients and colleagues to investigate and resolve audit matters.
• Leverage technology, data and digital tools to improve audit quality, efficiency and insights.

Required profile

• Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s qualification in accounting or a closely related subject.
• Chartered Accountant membership or equivalent, either in progress or attained.
• At least 18 months of experience in an external audit role within a professional services firm.
• Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting standards with an interest in deepening industry expertise.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and problem‑solving abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex information practically.
• Collaborative approach and confidence working with clients, colleagues and wider teams.
