Audit Assistant Manager

About the role

BDO Rotorua is seeking an Audit Assistant Manager to lead complex external audit engagements. This full‑time position offers the chance to work in a collaborative, relaxed environment while gaining early client exposure and access to senior partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
• Manage team workflow and deadlines, keeping partners and stakeholders informed of progress.
• Coach and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and positive learning environment.
• Communicate expectations clearly to the team and provide guidance throughout the audit process.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in external audit, including at least 3 years with a New Zealand firm.
• High standards with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and clients.
• Positive team player with a drive to further your career and take accountability for your work.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; capable of self‑management and decisive problem‑solving.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting or a related field.
• Must be currently residing in New Zealand with the right to work.
