Associate Professor/Professor – Industry Research Lead (Sport & Health)

About the role

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) invites a senior academic to lead a high‑impact industry‑research collaboration in sport, physical activity, wellbeing and applied innovation. This part‑time, three‑year fixed‑term appointment (0.6 FTE) is based at the New Zealand Centre for Integrated Sport (NZCIS) in Wellington.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic partnerships with industry, government and community stakeholders.
• Lead research translation initiatives that deliver measurable impact across the sport and wellbeing ecosystem.
• Provide mentorship and academic leadership to junior staff and students.
• Contribute to teaching with practice‑led, research‑informed approaches.
• Represent AUT and NZCIS in national and international forums.

Required profile

• Established Associate Professor or Professor with a strong record in sport, physical activity or wellbeing research.
• Demonstrated capability in partnership and relationship management within multi‑stakeholder environments.
• Experience in securing and managing industry‑funded research projects.
• Leadership potential for future senior roles and a commitment to mentorship.
