Assistant Store Manager – Retail (Wanaka, NZ)

About the role

Mountain Warehouse is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in Wanaka. You will help drive daily store operations, support a high‑performing team, and ensure an outstanding shopping experience for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Store Manager to lead, motivate and develop a collaborative team.
• Maintain visual merchandising, housekeeping and health‑and‑safety standards.
• Support recruitment, retention and training of staff.
• Assist in achieving and exceeding sales targets while monitoring KPIs.
• Manage stock levels, replenishment and delivery processes.
• Implement loss‑prevention measures to protect profitability.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and address feedback promptly.
• Represent the brand positively within the local community.

Required profile

• Full working rights in New Zealand (no working holiday visa).
• Passionate about creating outstanding customer experiences.
• Proven retail leadership experience with a track record of meeting targets.
• Clear, confident communicator able to engage colleagues and customers.
• Results‑driven, approachable and trustworthy team player.
• Energetic, proactive and able to see tasks through to completion.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills aligned with company policies.
