Assistant Retail Sales Advisor

About the role

The Assistant Retail Sales Advisor will support the daily operations of the Auckland Zoo Shop, ensuring a welcoming environment for visitors and smooth retail processes. Working closely with the Retail Sales Advisor and Storeroom Coordinator, you will handle stock, online orders and shop presentation in a permanent, full‑time capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Support stock and inventory management, including product data entry, ordering, receiving, invoicing and regular stock counts.
• Maintain the shop’s presentation by restocking shelves, visual merchandising and day‑to‑day troubleshooting.
• Process online orders, monitor the shop email inbox and assist with the e‑commerce website.
• Assist with supplier relationships, Lightspeed and Shopify transactions, month‑end reporting and retail sales analytics.
• Help ensure security procedures and a safe, professional retail environment.

Required profile

• Minimum NCEA Level 3 qualification.
• Previous retail experience (essential).
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work with numbers.
• Reliable, organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Lightspeed point‑of‑sale system (beneficial).
• Familiarity with Shopify e‑commerce platform (beneficial).
