Assistant Project Manager

About the role

This position offers an early‑career professional the chance to support the delivery of infrastructure, property and development projects where Māori cultural values and iwi partnerships are central. You will work closely with senior project managers and iwi stakeholders to ensure projects are culturally informed and socially impactful.

Key responsibilities

• Support project planning, reporting and documentation.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement, including iwi and hapū representatives.
• Assist senior project managers with day‑to‑day project delivery.
• Contribute to culturally informed decision‑making and project outcomes.
• Help maintain project schedules and deliverables.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Architecture, Engineering, Property, Law or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years’ experience in project management, consultancy or the built environment (or strong internship exposure).
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and their application in projects.
• Familiarity with Te Ao Māori concepts, including tikanga and Māori approaches to land and community.
• Confidence or working knowledge of te reo Māori in professional settings.
• Experience or genuine interest in working with iwi, hapū or Māori organisations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build respectful relationships.
• Proactive, organised and eager to learn.
