Assistant Programme Manager - Matua Ngaru

About the role

sKids, part of Junior Adventures Group, creates out-of-school experiences for children aged 3 to 12 across New Zealand. As Assistant Programme Manager at the Matua Ngaru site, you will be the friendly face of the programme, working a minimum of 10 hours per week on Monday to Friday. Morning shifts run 7am to 8.30am and afternoon shifts 2.30pm to 6.00pm; availability from 2.30pm is essential, and school holiday programmes (7am to 6pm) may also be available.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Programme Manager in the day-to-day running of the sKids programme
• Act as second-in-command and lead sessions when the Programme Manager is away
• Supervise and engage large groups of children in a safe, inclusive environment
• Help plan and deliver activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games and offsite trips
• Support managing challenging behaviour with positive guidance and consistency
• Guide and support Programme Assistants on shift
• Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers and school staff
• Help with set-up, pack-down and preparation of resources

Required profile

• Legal right to work in New Zealand (valid visa or citizenship)
• Reliable transport to the Matua Ngaru site
• Experience working with groups of children (e.g. childcare, coaching, teaching, camps)
• Ability to step into a leadership role, manage behaviour in groups and communicate well with children and adults
• Able to support and lead others; over 20 years old
