Assistant Maintenance Manager

About the role

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the Chief Engineer in delivering a safe, comfortable, and high‑quality experience for guests. This role combines technical expertise with a hospitality mindset, ensuring the property’s facilities run smoothly while fostering a welcoming culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hotel‑wide maintenance activities to maintain guest comfort and protect the owner’s investment.
• Monitor energy usage, test safety systems, and ensure all equipment is operational.
• Coordinate external contractors and service providers under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Drive ongoing safety, operational training, and compliance with EPA and PPE standards.
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and inventory management for maintenance supplies.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams, preferably in a large hotel or complex.
• Trade qualification is advantageous.
• Flexible to work weekends and public holidays.
• Strong communicator, highly organized, and culturally aware.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with property management systems such as Opera.
