Assistant Accountant

About the role

KPMG is seeking a detail‑oriented Assistant Accountant to join its finance team in New Zealand. In this role you will help deliver accurate, timely financial reporting that supports informed decision‑making across the business. You will work closely with the broader finance team to maintain high‑quality financial data and ensure smooth core finance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and completion of high‑quality monthly and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly journals and perform general ledger analysis accurately and on time.
• Assist with cash‑flow forecasting by gathering and maintaining relevant financial data.
• Maintain tax compliance by preparing and filing GST and FBT returns.
• Provide data and administrative support for the firm’s budgeting process.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations, identifying and escalating discrepancies.

Required profile

• At least 2‑3 years of experience in financial and management accounting.
• Strong ability to support monthly and annual financial reporting.
• Knowledge of tax compliance, specifically GST and FBT returns.
• Experience with cash‑flow forecasting and financial data management.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong time‑management skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
