Asbestos Assessor & Trainee Hazmat Consultant (Field Based)

About the role

Join ALS Environmental Risk Services as an Asbestos Assessor and Trainee Hazmat Consultant, working primarily in the Palmerston North region. You will be part of a nationwide team delivering hazardous material surveys, testing and risk management solutions for construction, demolition and property projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform asbestos and hazardous‑material surveys on site.
• Carry out asbestos air monitoring, clearance inspections and register reviews.
• Conduct methamphetamine testing and produce detailed reports.
• Develop, implement and evaluate risk‑management policies and programs.
• Provide technical reporting on risk mitigation strategies.
• Assist with occupational hygiene monitoring under supervision.
• Travel regionally and work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.

Required profile

• 1‑5 years of experience as a field technician or in a related role.
• Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and use personal protective equipment in confined spaces.
• Self‑motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel within the region as required.
