Application Architect

About the role

We are seeking an Application Architect to join a well‑established New Zealand‑based technology consultancy. You will work closely with engineering squads and senior customer stakeholders to shape the evolution of a large Microsoft‑centric application ecosystem, ensuring modernisation is sensible and stable.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve application architecture across a broad .NET landscape, from legacy to modern components.
• Design API and integration patterns that keep teams productive while maintaining system stability.
• Create versioned contracts for frontend teams (Angular) to enable confident development.
• Prioritise modernisation work, balancing risk, effort and business value.
• Raise engineering standards through clean architecture, DDD, testing, CI/CD and code‑quality practices.
• Facilitate workshops, guide squads and act as the calm technical voice in customer discussions.
• Mentor engineers and emerging architects, leaving teams stronger.

Required profile

• Strong consultancy background with the ability to step into new environments quickly.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Proven ability to influence without formal authority and balance best practices with real‑world constraints.
