Anatomical Pathology Registrar (Full‑time, Permanent)

About the role

The Anatomical Pathology Registrar position offers a permanent, full‑time role in a modern histology and cytology laboratory serving the Otago and Southland region. You will train under a structured RCPA‑accredited programme, gaining experience across high‑volume community and complex hospital specimens.

Key responsibilities

• Perform laboratory management tasks and routine histology techniques.
• Handle fresh, frozen, and surgical specimens, including cut‑up and fine‑needle aspiration (FNA) procedures.
• Conduct microscopic examination and reporting of histology and cytology cases.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and present findings.
• Contribute to quality‑assurance programmes and undergraduate teaching.

Required profile

• MB ChB or equivalent, registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Meticulous attention to detail, ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a complex environment.
• Commitment to a structured training pathway and continuous professional development.
