Allied Support Worker – Caregiver Recruitment & Support

About the role

The Allied Support Worker will support Caregiver Recruitment and Support teams within Oranga Tamariki, helping to connect caregivers with children and families. Working under the direction of qualified Social Workers, the role focuses on operational tasks that enable social workers to meet statutory obligations and deliver professional practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regional support based on operational priorities, including travel across and occasionally outside the region.
• Assist with caregiver engagement, community outreach and recruitment activities.
• Coordinate caregiver training and support learning and development initiatives.
• Help with caregiver assessments, approvals, support planning and ongoing support.
• Support placement and matching by gathering information, developing caregiver profiles and coordinating placements.
• Build positive relationships with caregivers, whānau, community organisations and internal stakeholders.
• Occasionally work outside normal business hours as required.

Required profile

• Experience working in the community supporting people in need.
• Experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika cultures.
• Ability to handle emotional situations with empathy and sound judgement.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate with peers and external stakeholders.
