Allied Support Worker – Caregiver Recruitment & Support (Auckland)

About the role

The Allied Support Worker provides operational assistance to Oranga Tamariki’s Caregiver Recruitment and Support teams. Based in the Grey Lynn office, the role enables Social Workers to focus on statutory duties by handling recruitment, training coordination, placement support and related administration across North, West and Central Auckland.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver regional support according to operational priorities, including travel within and occasionally outside Auckland.
• Assist with caregiver engagement, community outreach and recruitment activities.
• Coordinate caregiver training programmes and support learning initiatives.
• Help with caregiver assessments, approvals, support planning and ongoing assistance.
• Gather information, develop caregiver profiles and facilitate placement and matching processes.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with caregivers, whānau, community organisations and internal stakeholders.
• Occasionally work outside normal business hours to meet service demand.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supporting people in the community, preferably with Māori and/or Pasifika groups.
• Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with empathy and sound judgement.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Reliability, emotional resilience and a high level of trustworthiness in a safety‑critical children’s environment.
