AI Driven Defense Tech Lead

About the role

As the AI Driven Defense Tech Lead, you will provide governance and technical leadership for Alphabet’s use of AI/ML systems to proactively defend Google’s enterprise environment. You will transform detection and prevention mechanisms to operate autonomously against agentic and nation‑state threats, influencing architecture and risk decisions across multiple teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce AI‑driven security governance and policy across Google’s infrastructure.
• Lead the design and implementation of autonomous detection and response capabilities.
• Coordinate with partner teams to set architecture, build consensus, and make risk trade‑offs.
• Represent security risks to senior leadership and drive strategic change.
• Indirectly manage a distributed team of engineers across regions to deliver secure AI solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 + years of experience in offensive security, AI/ML security, or agentic systems security.
• Experience with AI‑specific vulnerabilities such as prompt injection and lateral movement.
• Background in nation‑state threat analysis and cloud or enterprise security governance.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Experience designing AI‑driven defenses, investigation agents, and comprehensive observability for agent actions.
