Advisor Operations Support – Senior Courts (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Ministry of Justice is seeking an Advisor to join the Senior Courts Operations Support team. This fixed‑term position (until December 2027) provides specialist advice and operational assistance to the Senior, Employment, Environment and Coroners Courts. You will help deliver front‑line services, support reporting and business planning, and coordinate official correspondence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice across a complex, customer‑centred justice environment.
• Prepare high‑quality written reports, presentations and briefings for ministers, parliamentary questions and Official Information Act requests.
• Support frontline staff with day‑to‑day operational queries and issues.
• Coordinate group annual reporting, business planning initiatives and official correspondence.
• Influence and respond to changing priorities in a fast‑paced setting.

Required profile

• Experience delivering advice in a large, public‑sector organisation.
• Proven ability to produce clear written reports and presentations.
• Strong communication skills with diverse audiences on complex matters.
• Excellent organisational abilities, capable of working independently and meeting deadlines.
• Understanding of the Ministry of Justice context and Treaty of Waitangi principles.
