Adult General Psychiatrist – Community Mental Health (Full/Part‑time)

About the role

Health New Zealand is seeking enthusiastic and committed Consultant Psychiatrists to join the East Adult Community Mental Health Team in Christchurch. The position is available on a full‑time or part‑time basis, offering a rewarding career within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults experiencing acute and enduring mental illness.
• Deliver community‑based care, crisis response, and collaborate with inpatient services.
• Develop and maintain recovery‑focused therapeutic relationships.
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions, service development, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Support continuing professional development, teaching, supervision, and pursue areas of clinical interest.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant Psychiatrist with a commitment to adult mental health care.
