Academic Research Counselling Lecturer

About the role

We are seeking a permanent part‑time Academic Research Counselling Lecturer (0.6 FTE) to join the School of Health & Counselling at the Manukau and Ōtara campuses. The role combines teaching, research support and the integration of Māori world‑views into counselling practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate counselling lectures and seminars.
• Supervise student placement visits across the greater Auckland area.
• Develop and update curriculum that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety and bicultural practice.
• Contribute to the school’s research agenda and maintain an active research profile.
• Collaborate with academic and support staff to ensure a culturally responsive learning environment.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of professional counselling practice (or equivalent experience).
• Current membership of NZAC or NZCCA.
• Interest in or experience of tertiary teaching.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Full New Zealand driver’s licence for campus and placement travel.
