Wine Experience and Sales Manager

About the role

The Wine Experience and Sales Manager will lead the Cellar Door at Kinross, a family‑run vineyard, hotel and bistro in Queenstown’s Gibbston wine region. The role is full‑time, on‑site and focuses on delivering memorable wine‑tasting experiences while driving on‑site and online sales.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Cellar Door, ensuring warm and informative guest experiences.
• Lead, train and schedule the front‑of‑house team.
• Coordinate tasting flights, wine experiences and private tastings.
• Manage wine club memberships and online sales.
• Collaborate with the bistro and accommodation teams to create cohesive guest journeys.
• Monitor stock levels, presentation standards and handle inventory.
• Respond to customer feedback and queries professionally.
• Support events and group bookings.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of New Zealand and Central Otago wines; wine education such as WSET preferred.
• Experience in hospitality, tourism or cellar‑door environments with a proven guest‑focused track record.
• Demonstrated sales and customer‑relationship abilities, including upselling and meeting revenue targets.
• Team‑leadership experience in a fast‑paced setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and time‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and perform physical tasks.

Required skills

• Point‑of‑sale (POS) system operation.
• Basic inventory management.
• Standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with online sales platforms.
