Well-Child Tamariki Ora Nurse

About the role

Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei is seeking a compassionate and skilled Well-Child Tamariki Ora Nurse to join its Tamariki Ora team until July 2027 on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. The role works in line with the Tamariki Ora Schedule and the Well Child Framework, delivering culturally responsive, community-based care alongside clinical and community staff across homes, marae, early childhood centres, clinics and other community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Tamariki Ora / Well Child services in line with the Tamariki Ora Schedule
• Provide clinical assessments, health promotion, screening, anticipatory guidance and whānau support
• Coordinate care and act as case manager where required
• Promote equity and reduce health disparities in the community
• Support and strengthen parenting capability and whānau wellbeing
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet professional standards
• Contribute to quality improvement, H&S compliance and professional development

Required profile

• Current New Zealand nursing registration and current annual practising certificate
• Experience in Well-child Tamariki Ora or paediatrics
• Strong knowledge of child growth and development (birth to five years)
• Ability to work autonomously in community settings
• Full New Zealand driver's licence
• Right to work in New Zealand
• Desirable: postgraduate certificate in primary health care speciality nursing, Te Reo Māori proficiency, and experience with Māori whānau and kaupapa Māori environments
