Waste Recycler & Operator – Full‑Time at Waitakere Resource Recovery Park

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based at the Waitakere Resource Recovery Park in Henderson. You will join Auckland Council’s Solid Waste team, delivering essential waste‑handling services to the Auckland region and protecting the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Transfer waste to landfills and manage material flow.
• Divert reusable items and recycle materials from the waste stream.
• Assist customers at various drop‑off areas.
• Maintain health and safety standards for staff and the public.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual work.
• Full NZ driver’s licence (Class 1 & 2) – essential.
• WTR (Wheels, Tracks and Rollers) endorsement and Fork Hoist/Lift certification.
• Demonstrable experience operating heavy machinery and power tools, preferably in waste, construction or landscaping.
• Optional: Approved Handler Certificate for chemical handling.
