About the role
The Venue Customer Experience Officer is the first point of contact for visitors, hirers, staff and performers at Te Puna Mahara – Cromwell Memorial Events Centre. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you will help create a welcoming, safe and well‑organised environment for all users of the venue.
Key responsibilities
- Greet visitors, provide a warm and professional welcome in person, by phone and email.
- Direct people with bookings to the appropriate rooms or event spaces.
- Support venue bookings, ticketing and box‑office operations.
- Maintain up‑to‑date website content and booking/ticketing systems.
- Perform general administration tasks such as data entry and record keeping.
- Assist with retail duties and cover breaks when required.
- Act as a Fire Warden after training and help with health‑and‑safety procedures.
- Collaborate with the wider venue team and adapt to the evolving facility.
Required profile
- Proven customer‑service experience, preferably in a reception or public‑facing role.
- Strong administrative background with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in busy or unexpected situations.
- Flexible, adaptable and willing to learn as the venue grows.
- Positive, team‑focused attitude with a strong sense of customer care.
- Willingness to undertake health‑and‑safety training, including fire‑warden duties.
Required skills
- Confidence using booking systems.
- Experience with ticketing systems.
- Familiarity with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
