Tunnel Lead

About the role

ACCIONA is seeking an experienced Tunnel Lead to drive the design and delivery of tunnel solutions for road, rail, utility and water infrastructure projects. You will shape tunnelling strategy, ensure design governance and safety, and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across large‑scale programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead tunnel design using mined, TBM and cut‑and‑cover methodologies.
• Oversee integration of geotechnical data, structural design, systems coordination and ventilation requirements.
• Champion safety‑in‑design, constructability and operability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage client relationships and coordinate with technical specialists and project stakeholders.
• Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to tunnelling engineers and designers.

Required profile

• Extensive tunnelling engineering experience on major transport or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of ground behaviour, lining design, support systems and construction techniques.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary technical interfaces.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving capabilities.

Required skills

• Tunnel design methodologies (mined, TBM, cut‑and‑cover).
• Geotechnical analysis and integration.
• Structural design of tunnel linings.
• Ventilation system design for underground works.
• Knowledge of construction techniques and support systems.
