Tenancy Mediator – Residential Dispute Resolution

About the role
The Tenancy Mediator role supports landlords, tenants, body corporates and unit owners in resolving residential tenancy disputes under the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and the Unit Titles Act 2010. Based in Auckland, you will join a dedicated team that provides guidance, problem‑solving and empathetic support to help parties find common ground and maintain healthy relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate mediation sessions by phone, video conference and face‑to‑face.
- Provide clear information on tenancy rights and obligations.
- Assist parties in reaching practical, fair outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of mediation activities and outcomes.
- Promote culturally safe practices, especially for Māori and Pasifika communities.
Required profile
- Understanding of conflict drivers in community settings.
- Willingness to learn the Residential Tenancies Act and related legislation.
- Experience in mediation, facilitation or community advocacy is a plus.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in emotionally charged situations.
- Commitment to cultural safety and working with diverse populations.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and databases.
