Technical Program Manager - Forward Deployed Engineering

About the role

Databricks is hiring a Technical Program Manager for its Forward Deployed Engineering team in Auckland, New Zealand. The team accelerates and de-risks customers' outcomes by making sure every project succeeds while keeping customer satisfaction high. The role balances project delivery with the commercial objectives of the Forward Deployed Engineering organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the commercial delivery of services across many projects, from single-person engagements of 2-3 weeks to 6-month multi-person teams
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders, building clarity, alignment and confidence
• Manage risks proactively, align cross-functional teams and ensure customer outcomes are met or exceeded
• Keep accurate project reporting and keep all parties up to date on progress
• Drive growth in key accounts by identifying expansion opportunities and influencing future roadmaps
• Share delivery best practices within the Professional Services team and mentor junior team members

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex, enterprise-scale data or AI/ML projects in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
• Experience managing projects with teams of up to 5 people and contract values over $0.5 million
• Ability to engage and influence senior executive stakeholders, including CxOs
• Experience setting up and managing project delivery frameworks, including Agile, Scrum or hybrid methods, ideally with PMI/PRINCE/Agile certification
• Experience with commercial aspects of delivery such as change control, SoW management and margin protection
• Comfort with ambiguity, strong ownership and excellent verbal and written communication
