Teaching Fellow – Biomedical Sciences

About the role

The University of Waikato is seeking a Teaching Fellow to deliver high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in Biomedical Sciences. You will join the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, contributing to the development of future leaders in health and science.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, laboratory sessions and fieldwork for Biomedical Science programmes.
• Develop and maintain teaching materials and assessment tools.
• Administer examinations, mark assessments accurately and provide timely feedback.
• Train and supervise sessional teaching assistants.
• Engage in curriculum development and adopt innovative teaching methods, including online and blended approaches.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in a biomedical sciences discipline.
• Proven tertiary‑level teaching experience in relevant subject areas.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to inclusive, engaging learning experiences.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Commitment to cultural safety, equity, diversity and partnership with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a student‑focused team environment.
• Background in curriculum development is an advantage.

• Competitive salary range of $79,211 to $111,169 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
