Tax Director

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking a Tax Director to lead senior tax advisory engagements in Christchurch. You will work with large corporate, infrastructure, property and investment clients on complex transactions and commercial decisions, shaping the growth of the local and national Tax practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex tax advisory projects for sophisticated clients, covering M&A, transaction structuring, financing, reorganisations and major projects.
• Conduct tax due diligence, advise on acquisition and disposal structures, and support clients throughout the transaction lifecycle.
• Provide trusted tax advice to senior executives and key stakeholders across diverse industries.
• Develop and nurture strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities and collaborate with Deals, Legal and other specialist teams.
• Coach, mentor and develop junior team members, contributing to a high‑performing, commercially focused Tax practice.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in corporate tax advisory, preferably within professional services or a large commercial environment.
• Proven track record of leading significant client engagements and building trusted relationships.
• Strong commercial judgement combined with deep technical tax knowledge.
