Systems Operator

About the role

Join Paymark’s 24/7 operations team as a Systems Operator, ensuring the continuous availability of New Zealand’s critical EFTPOS and payment infrastructure. You will work in a fast‑paced, shift‑based environment, monitoring systems in real time and supporting financial services that keep the economy moving.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support mission‑critical payment systems around the clock.
• Maintain system availability, performance and reliability.
• Execute daily financial settlement processes with accuracy and timeliness.
• Run scheduled jobs and perform routine system maintenance.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve incidents using analytical skills.
• Manage multiple service requests and system alerts efficiently.

Required profile

• Qualification in Computer Science or related field, or at least 1 year of relevant IT experience.
• Ability to work rotating shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off) in a 24/7 environment.
• Reliable, calm under pressure and a strong team player.
• Keen to learn and grow in a high‑impact, complex environment.

Required skills

• Experience with system monitoring and support.
• Exposure to mainframe or mid‑range platforms – HP NonStop and Connex are a plus.
• Basic scripting or programming knowledge.
