Student Electrical Engineer Internship – Wellington

About the role

Aurecon is offering a paid 12‑week summer internship for students studying Electrical Engineering. You will work on real building‑services projects, gaining hands‑on experience in a leading engineering consultancy while being supported by mentors and an early‑careers community.

Key responsibilities

• Work on live projects and solve electrical engineering challenges.
• Gain exposure to electrical building services, power systems, lighting, communications and smart building technologies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the Asia‑Pacific region.
• Build your professional network through the Limelight community and mentorship programmes.
• Participate in the Intern Learning Series and Leadership Series to develop consulting skills.

Required profile

• Currently studying Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably in the second‑to‑last year of study.
• Interest in how electrical systems support building performance, sustainability and functionality.
• Available for full‑time work for 12 weeks from mid‑November 2026 to February 2027, with a two‑week break over the holiday period.
• Curiosity, strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
