Structural Design Engineer – Crane & Structural Steel

About the role

Monocrane 2010 Limited is seeking a practical, detail‑oriented Structural Design Engineer to join its Silverdale team. The role focuses on hands‑on engineering for crane and structural steel projects, covering design, documentation, and support through the full project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and review structural steel elements such as runway beams, columns, corbels, brackets, base plates, end stops, tie‑backs and bracing.
• Analyse crane load data, wheel loads and runway reactions to define support structure requirements.
• Prepare and validate General Arrangement (GA) drawings, crane layouts, hook coverage, span, headroom and clearances.
• Convert site measurements into accurate sketches, mark‑ups and design inputs.
• Support structural calculations, design notes and coordination with CPEng where required.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, external engineers, workshop staff and installation crews to ensure design readiness for procurement, fabrication and hand‑over.

Required profile

• Hands‑on engineering mindset with strong attention to detail.
• Experience in structural design for crane or lifting systems.
• Ability to interpret building and structural information and translate site data into design specifications.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
