STMS – Traffic Management Supervisor – Queenstown

About the role

Downer is seeking an experienced STMS to join its Queenstown crew. You will be responsible for delivering traffic management plans across a busy network, ensuring safety for crews and the public while supporting both maintenance and project work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support Traffic Management Officer (TMO) crews on‑site
• Set up and pack down traffic control sites
• Run toolbox and closure briefings and give clear direction to team members
• Train and mentor junior STMS staff
• Ensure all works are completed safely and to a high standard
• Adapt to changing conditions and solve problems in real time

Required profile

• Physically fit and motivated
• Current STMS warrant or strong TTM experience seeking progression
• Full Class 2 driver’s licence (highly desirable)
• Strong planning and problem‑solving abilities
• Proven leadership with a coaching mindset
• Clear, confident communication skills
• Flexibility to work outdoors in a dynamic environment
• Commitment to health and safety
