Sterilising Unit Technician – CSSD

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Sterilising Unit Technician to join our Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) at Allevia Hospitals’ purpose‑built facility in Parnell, Auckland. In this permanent full‑time position you will play a vital part in ensuring that surgical instruments and medical devices are decontaminated, inspected and sterilised to the highest standards, supporting safe patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, log and prepare used surgical instruments and equipment for processing.
• Operate and maintain sterilisation equipment, including autoclaves and washer‑disinfectors.
• Perform cleaning, decontamination, assembly, inspection and packaging of instruments according to established protocols.
• Conduct routine quality checks and documentation to ensure compliance with infection‑control standards.
• Collaborate with nursing and surgical teams to prioritize urgent cases and resolve equipment issues.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Sterile Processing or equivalent.
• Proven experience working in a CSSD or similar sterile processing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow strict procedural guidelines.
