Sterile Services Technician (Trainee or Qualified)

About the role

Christchurch Hospital, a busy tertiary hospital, is seeking both qualified and trainee Sterile Services Technicians for a permanent full-time position covering the afternoon shift (2:30pm to 11:00pm). The team decontaminates, packs and sterilises instruments for the operating theatres and other departments. Trainees get a fully funded one-year tertiary qualification while working, and qualified applicants join a supportive, experienced team.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate and sterilise reusable medical equipment
• Inspect instruments carefully to make sure they meet strict standards
• Follow detailed processes and documentation requirements
• Work as part of a team in a fast-paced, process-driven environment

Required profile

• Reliable, steady approach and attention to detail
• Physically fit, comfortable on their feet and able to lift
• Happy working in a structured, repetitive environment and committed to shift work
• Qualified applicants: previous Sterile Services experience and relevant qualifications are highly desirable
• Trainee applicants: healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training is provided
