Staff Specialist – Anatomical Pathology

About the role

The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking a Staff Specialist in Anatomical Pathology to provide high‑level diagnostic expertise across surgical, oncology and multidisciplinary care teams. This permanent, full‑time role combines clinical service, teaching and research within a supportive, forward‑thinking environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the delivery of Anatomical Pathology services at Royal Hobart Hospital.
• Conduct tissue review meetings and deliver timely, accurate pathology reports.
• Teach undergraduate medical students and supervise postgraduate specialist trainees.
• Engage in research activities, including supervision of research students.
• Monitor service effectiveness and contribute to quality, safety and work‑health initiatives.
• Perform administrative duties and collaborate with scientific staff and other health professionals.

Required profile

• Appropriate medical qualifications and registration for specialist practice in Anatomical Pathology.
• Proven experience in diagnostic pathology within surgical, oncology and multidisciplinary settings.
• Commitment to teaching, research and continuous professional development.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
